MgAl2O4 (MA) spinel was prepared by co-precipitation of aqueous aluminium and magnesium chloride solution using ammonia and ammonium carbonate as precipitamts respectively. The phase evolution of the precursors during calcination, the morphology and the sinterability of the resultant MA powder were characterized, And the powders prepared by the two precipitants were compared.
