We have completed automation of an apparatus used for tests in an oxidizing atmosphere and an apparatus used for tests in a reducing atmosphere. The automatized apparatuses are connected to the LAN system of our testing section. The apparatuses have a maximum 10 or 20 test piece/day capacity. The new system in operated with personal computers, a robot, and a test piece transport device so labor is reduced. As a result of measuring by the new apparatuses, the deviation between test pieces was #sigma#_(n-1)=0.36-2.07MPa (CV=3.4-15.3 percent). These very large values were beyond our expectations. There was almost no difference between the results of the modulus of rupture and the L_s/h (distance between test piece support points/height) ratio, from L_s/h=3.125 to 5, of the test pieces.
