The BOF life has been remarkably prolonged. This is a product of refractory development and in addition to operating improvements.In this paper, our newly developed unshaped refractories and MgO-C bricks, which are characterized by a pitch substitution for aluminium, a reinforcement technique for the reaction layer on the hot face and so on, are described.
