In this experiment, thanks to the application of the double coated aluminum fine powder, it became practical to use an emulsion type binder. Consequently, a joint seal disc wit excellent workability and sealing property in hot atmosphere was achieved. - A joint seal disc was realized that is easy to install in hot atmosphere and greatly contributes towards the production of high quality steel. There is less air entrainment from refractory joints and improvement towards the elimination of problems such as abnormal refractory wear at the connection pan. Also, by the application of a graphite surface coating agent, it is possible to obtain a joint seal discs with an excellent release ability after use. In an actual tests in steelworks "A," this joint material has been used without any troubles, and its efficiency was confirmed.
