In the process of corrosion of MgO brick by a calcium-aluminum-silica melt, it has been confirmed that Indirect Dissolution of MgO often occurs, depending upon the composition of the melt~(1),2)). For the formation of spinel by Indirect Dissolution of Mgo, the spinel may sometimes suppress the corrosion of MgO brick depending on the composition of the melt~(3)). As this example shows, Indirect Dissolution of MgO has attracted attention as a technology for improving the corrosion resistance of MgO. This paper reports our study of the corrosion process of MgO brick by a calcium-aluminum-silica melt.
