内容简介

Cement rotary kilns are making great contributions to environmental conservation because of their ability to process massive amounts of industrial waste in safety, and also their ability to utilize recycled waste as raw materials. On the other hand, corrosion damage is increased in the kiln shell and lining refractories as a result of these activities. As for the corrosion damage to refractories, it is possible to identify causes such as damage by substances infiltrating from the working surface, damage by the reducing atmosphere originating in the kiln and damage from other sources. Infiltrating substances such as chloride, sulfide and the like accumulate in the vicinity of the melting temperature of each compound in a zone within the internal part of the refractories. The accumulated materials gradually deteriorate the refractories structure due to enhancement of brittleness that comes along with the repetition of the thermal cycling. Unstable combustion resulting from the use of substitute fuels brings about atmosphere variation in particular regions and cause structural deterioration in the lining refractories and brittleness in the vicinity of the working face of the refractories due to the oxygen-reduction behaviors~(1)).
